We did our yearly trek to Jones Family Farms, to pick and cut down a tree for our home. The weather was comfortable and we didn't have to walk far to find the Fraiser Fir that we liked. Fraiser Firs have soft, rounded needles. As long as you water it, a fresh cut tree will last past Christmas. BTW, the tree in the picture is not ours! We couldn't possibly fit that into our home.

Washed Out Day

I had planned to spend a few hours walking around taking photos, but this was the best I could do sitting in the car.

Tragic Aftermath

It's very sad when you see something like this. While taking photos, I heard bits and pieces about what happened here but not enough to give you the whole story. However, what is known is he's a "brother" and didn't have a helmet.
Update: I read in today's paper that he was a 42-year-old bike messenger and died at the scene.

7th Annual Chocolate Show - New York 2004

We attended the Chocolate Show and had a ball. Every booth we stopped at, we made it a point to try out the samples. After, how could you not? It's chocolate! And the aromas...we were in chocolate heaven!!!
The place was mobbed. When we'd arrived, the line was long enough but when we left at the end of the day, it was wrapped around the block! Throughout the day, there was a steady stream of people going in, and at $20 per person plus $10 per child, maybe the MTA should take lessons.
Barnes & Noble had a ton of chocolate and dessert books. They'd even posted schedules of signings. We got Jacques Torres and Francois Payard to autograph their books.
Throughout the day, there were cooking demonstrations and if you weren't early enough to get a seat, you'd end up standing with most people on tiptoes trying to view it. Guess which group we fell into? Hint: We're not exactly tall.
After all the free samples, we still bought a few boxes of chocolate! Can't wait till next year, I bringing plastic baggies to fill up!!!

Spikes #2

It was an overcast day, with a bit of chill in the air. I shot this with a Canon EF 70 - 200mm 4L lens. The background is the Hudson River.

They're the seeds of the plant. The tips have two prongs and will easily stick to clothing or the body of an animal.

Stage Right Garlands

One of the containers holding stage decorations for Radio City Music Hall. Props that were too large for the containers, were completely bubble-wrapped. Looks like they're getting ready for their yearly Christmas show. They're famous for their Radio City Rockettes!
